Air India - Airline Information

Air Acosta is the youngest, as well as the first regional airline based in India. It is owned and operated by LEPL Group, whose business interests mainly include property and infrastructure developments all over the country.

The young carrier was founded in June 2013 by Sri L. P. Bhaskar Rao, himself, the founder of LEPL Group, one of the country's largest property developers.

Air Costa initially keeps a fleet of three Embraer jets, E170 and E190, which are both efficiently suitable for short-haul routes across the southern parts of the country. The E170 model has a maximum capacity of up to 80 passengers, while the E190 can accommodate up to 110 passengers.

The DGCA and the Ministry of Civil Aviation have already approved the airline's application for a permit to operate in its preliminary stage. The young airline is scheduled to start operations in July this year.

The airline chose Vijayawada, in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, as the location for its headquarters and its maintenance depot. The city is also the home-base of its mother company. The regional airline will fly to short-haul destinations in the southern parts of the country such as Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune, Vizag, and Visakhapatnam.

Captain K.N. Babu is the airline's Chief Executive Officer while Ramesh Lingamaneni serves as its Chairman and Managing Director.
