Indian Airlines Experience Rise in Passengers

Last Christmas season saw an increase in passengers in the airline industry in India. Reports showed that airlines in India saw a 19.71 percent rise in passengers compared to the Christmas season of 2014. This inflow of passengers resulted in most airlines flying with over 75 percent of their seat booked at all times during this period, according to DGCA data.
The Airline IndiGO took the largest share in the domestic market by flying over 35.9 percent of travelers during the month of December. This carrier is known as the market leader for local flights in the country. In addition, the Jet group also flew 21.2 percent of passengers during the month of December 2015.
Spice Jet airline occupied most of its seats with over 92.1 percent of every flight with seats full. This was followed with IndiGO " 88.5 percent of its seats full on every flight during the month of December 2015.
Other flight such as Air India and Vistara improved their load factors by flying planes with 148 seating capacity. In most flights, the seats were at least 77.6 percent full.
Vistara airlines had the highest number of flights in December with the airline flying over 90.6 percent of its flight. This was followed by GoAir which flew 79.6 percent of its flights on time and then IndiGo in fourth place with 78.3 percent on time flights. Air India flew the least flights in December with only 62.8 percent flights during take-off and landing.
