SpiceJet to Open Advanced Bookings up to March 2016

Indian low-budget airliner SpiceJet decided to open advanced bookings up to March 2016, after getting a "thumbs up" from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

What this means for customers is that they can make early plans for their winter holidays, the carrier said.

In a press release, SpiceJet chief operating officer Sanjiv Kapoor said:

"We are pleased to announce opening of bookings beyond 24th October this year. Our customers can now plan their travel up to 26th March next year, and as always, those who plan and book early get the best fares."

SpiceJet Increasing Daily Flights, Keep Ticket Cancelation Fair

SpiceJet is not stopping there, however. The carrier has also announced it will have more daily flights during the winter. The plan is to have 251 flights in the winter schedule. Right now, that number stands at 238. New flights will be added starting on 25th October this year, when the summer schedule finishes.

With most carriers cutting down on services during the winter in order to optimize, SpiceJet has opted for a more popular (at least when it comes to passengers) approach of bringing more frequency. Still, they are focusing on routes they already operate and don't seem to plan to start any new ones soon.

The company has even taken a more reasonable approach to ticket cancelation, charging only Rs1.500 ($23.86) for this.

This is good news knowing that most companies increased the fines by as much as 50 percent for ticket cancellation.

Senior vice president of SpiceJet Shipla Bhatia explained this decision by saying:

"We understand that plans can sometimes change, and we want our customers to be able to make amendments without spending much."

Currently, SpiceJet has a fleet of 35 aircrafts, including 15 Bombardier Q400s and 20 Boeing 737s. These fly 238 times every single day to a total of 41 destinations, including 34 in India and seven international ones.
