Jet Airways Lures Customers With Rs500 Tickets

Saturday, 6th September 2014 at 03:02am

The special promo offer was launched a day after a similar fare sale was launched by low-cost carrier, SpiceJet. The Mumbai-based carrier launched its own ticket sale as a counter offer, in an effort to lure customers away from rival airlines.

The all-inclusive Rs.500 ticket, however, doesn't include statutory taxes. Customers should hurry up and make their bookings as soon as possible as the one-way fare is up for grab only within two days from its launch, starting September 5.

The offer is available for travel starting January 16, 2015 to all destinations across the airline's domestic route network. Furthermore, tickets are only valid for direct flights and don't even include group bookings.

SpiceJet, on its part, was able to receive more one lakh tickets on Monday alone with its Rs.499 ticket promo. The budget airline has been holding fare promo more frequently to attract customers since January this year.

IndiGo, on the other hand, is holding another round of ticket sale just to mitigate the possible onrush of customers to its rivals. It offers an all-inclusive Rs.999 which is available for bookings three months ahead of the travel date. The current offer is significantly lower by almost half the price it offered a week ago for the same ticket which was at Rs1,887.

The newcomer, AirAsia India, was not to be outdone, as usual, with its own ticket promo, offering all-in fares starting from Rs.1,290. The offer was launched Sunday last week and lasted for 4 days until Wednesday with travel period from September 5, 2014 up to December 11, 2014.

The low-cost subsidiary of the giant AirAsia Bhd. currently operates from its hub in Bangalore with services to Chennai, Goa, and Kochi. Beginning September 5, it will commence direct flights to Jaipur and Chandigrah, both from Bangalore, marking its foray into the northern region of India.
