Jet Airways Inks Codeshare Agreement With Vietnam Airlines

Sunday, 10th August 2014 at 07:03am

The agreement will significantly increase the connectivity between the two airlines' home base and grow their customers in two of the world's largest fast-growing travel markets. Currently, there are no direct flights between the two countries.

Under the agreement, the two carriers will place their respective codes in selected routes across Southeast Asia and India, making it possible to travel between the two countries with just one booking.

As a result, customers may now be able to book a Jet Airways flight in any of the Vietnam Airlines routes that originate in both Bangkok and Singapore, going to either Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam. In the same manner, travelers may now be able to book a Vietnam Airways flight on routes served only by Jet Airways. These routes include Bangkok-Delhi, Bangkok-Mumbai, Singapore-Delhi, Singapore-Mumbai, and Singapore-Chennai.

Mr. Gaurang Shetty, Jet Airways senior vice-president, admitted that the agreement will enable the two airlines to expand their markets in the two fast-growing regions in Asia.

He added that Jet Airways group will continue to find strategy to better position itself and strengthen its foothold in the region where it flies to, especially in India and Southeast Asia"two of the fastest growing markets in the Asia-Pacific region. The agreement is a testament to their commitment to serve their customers who want to travel to destinations outside Jet Airways' own network.

The codeshare agreement will offer vast opportunities to both airlines, as they will be able to offer their customers enhanced connectivity as well as improved benefits.

It will also increase awareness of Indian and Vietnamese travelers who want to explore beyond Singapore and Bangkok where these two airlines currently serve.

Travelers from India will now be able to explore Vietnam just as Vietnamese travelers will now be able to explore India without the need to book a separate flight beyond the two airlines' final destinations of Bangkok and Singapore, which will now serve as hassle-free transit points of their journey.

Customers may now book these flights under codeshare agreement which started last August 4.
