Jet Airways Cut down on International Travel Fares

Tuesday, 17th March 2015 at 02:30am

Previously this week, Indian low-cost airliner SpiceJet announced a one-way fare offering called "Let's Go Abroad Sale" for international routes for as low as 2,699 Rs. These tickets could be booked between March 19 and 22 and are valid for use anytime between March 19 and June 30 in 2015.

Little did they know how many of its competitors, including the second largest carrier in India, Jet Airways, will follow in their steps with a ticket scheme of their own.

On Saturday Jet Airways announced that it is offering a discount for its economy and premiere tickets from India to Singapore, Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City of up to 25 percent.

These tickets, the company explained, could be bought between March 21 and 22 and can be used for only the return journey between June 16 and November 3.

New Fares Could Increase January-March and July-September Traffic

Usually, periods between January and March, as well as July and September are not when airliners in India are seeing much travel demand, domestically or globally. After SpiceJet made their move, many companies have announced their own lowered fare options in hopes of attracting more customers, especially for international travel.

SpiceJet is right now on a low fare scheme row, with six such offers being announced since January 28. Just last month, the low-cost airliner unveiled "cheaper-than-train-fares", all-inclusive air tickets for 599 Rs, which is the lowest offer made so far this year.

Now that even the second-biggest airline company in India has slashed its prices, it is only a question of which carrier will be next to offer a discount on either international or domestic travel fares whether on one-way or on return journeys. Travel agents in India are reportedly expecting more airline traffic in the next two months.
