Jet Airways Adds New Airbus A330-300s to Its Fleet

Jet Airways inducted its all-new Airbus A330-300 series into its fleet this month. The airline took delivery four of the aircraft on December 14 from the company's headquarters in Toulouse, France.

The delivery of these new and bigger planes is a testament to the airline's commitment to offer improved service to their customers. Two of these aircraft will immediately replace two of the carrier's current 11 A330-200 fleet which are all under leased. The two remaining A330-300 aircraft will be deployed in some of its international routes.

The first of these new aircraft was immediately put into service a week later on December 22, on its Mumbai-Brussels route. The wide-body A330-300 plane is expected to set new standards in inflight comfort as it offers more space among other features.

Normally, the A330-300 aircraft can seat up to 335 in a 2-class configuration but Jet Airways has reduced the number of seats to 293 to provide more legroom to passengers. The Economy class will seat 259 comfortably while its business class seats 34 with its 'contour vantage 2' seat control features which embody optimum comfort with its new air-cushioned seats.

Jet Airways has fitted the new aircraft with the state-of-the-art inflight entertainment system offering passengers extensive menu on the latest blockbuster movies and TV programs.

Sudheer Raghavan, the airline's COO, declared that the acquisition of the new aircraft has enabled them to continually offer their customers innovative and unparalleled brand of service. Their mission is to ensure the optimum comfort, utmost safety and security of the passengers that result to total convenience.

The Airbus A330-300 series is also cost-efficient to operate and has proven to be reliable, especially on long-haul routes making it ideal for the airline's international service, either on medium or long-haul routes.

According to an airline official, the wide-body aircraft offers unparalleled advantage in several factors such as overall performance and reliability. It also features the latest in commercial avionics technology as well as the latest in cabin products, specially visible in the new Premiere class. Jet Airways is hoping that their expansion through acquisition of modern aircraft, it will give them the edge over others in terms of customer service and customer satisfaction.

The extended fuselage of the A330-300 aircraft offers increased capacity by 73 seats, 4 in business class and 69 in economy class over its sibling A300-200.

The business class,which Jet called Premiere, of the new wide-body aircraft exemplifies modern comfort not normally found in older aircraft. The passenger control units (PCUs) allows passengers to adjust their individual seats to their desired comfort level. Other advanced features in the Premiere class include lumbar support with a massage capability, spacious individual storage, leather armrests, a cocktail table and a 12.1-inch monitor for optimum inflight entertainment.
