In the latest survey done by TripAdvisor, a popular travel website, IndiGo came out as the favorite airline of travelers into and out of India.

This year's 'India Airline Experience Survey 2013' is the third installment of the website's annual survey. This year's edition was able to attract more than 2,500 respondents rating their experience with local as well as foreign-based carriers operating in India.

The results were announced recently through TravelBiz Monitor with India's largest airline emerged as the winner of the annual survey.

In the same survey, 53% of the respondents indicated they wanted to fly with TATA-SIA airline first before flying with AirAsia India.

Less than half or 48% of the respondents, however, believed AirAsia's foray into the Indian market will bring down the ticket prices among local airlines.

Overall, IndiGo emerged as a runaway winner voted an overwhelming majority of the respondents for on-time performance, baggage handling efficiency, value for money, in-flight maintenance and landing/take-off efficiency.

Jet Airways, meanwhile made impressions among respondents as it bested other airlines, including its closest rival, IndiGo, in check-in process, seat comfort, in-flight meals and entertainment, ground handling, website experience and cabin crew appearance.

For three successive editions, India's flag carrier, Air India, continues its streak as the least favorite airline mainly for its poor safety records. IndiGo dislodged Jet Airways as this year's safest domestic airline.

Among foreign-based airlines, Emirates also maintains its reputation, not only as the world's favorite, but also came out, for the third time, as India's most favorite airline. Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa followed closely behind.

For the record, Emirates bested all other international airlines in all parameters making it the undisputed airline of choice among Indian travelers into and out of India.

In the same survey, meal offering and seat legroom were the top two issues the majority of the respondents want airlines to look into more seriously.

Most travelers surveyed (or 24%) indicated they don't mind paying basic fare and pay separate items as practiced by budget carriers but 37% of them preferred bundled fares, mostly practiced by full-service airlines.

It was also found out that 76% of the respondents used the web check-in facility though only 23% of them had airline app on their mobile phone.

Surprisingly, only 21% of them followed their favorite airlines on social media such as Facebook and Twitter. Jet Airways, IndiGo and SpiceJet were also found to have attracted the most fans.

In the same survey, men respondents were also asked about the most annoying habits of passengers while on board the plane. A majority or 54% of them said they hated the most those who get up even before the plane could stop. The next most annoying habit was those who didn't turn their phones off until the crew told them to do so, at 47%. The third most annoying, at 39%, was those who reclined their seats in front of them.
