The Mohanbari airport is an important airport, situated in Dibrugarh, Assam India. It is an eastern civilian airport. It is ideally located at a driving distance of about 20 minutes from the heart of Dibrugarh Town. It connects to other important towns of Upper Assam like Tinsukia, through a 30 minutes drive on your personal car or Taxi.

Recently, the airport has been revamped by the Airport Authority of India. The restoration plan was started with the capital of about Rs 50 Crore. The renovation has made it one of the best airports in the region.

At present, the airport serves as the busiest airports of Upper Assam, the fastest growing economic region of Eastern India. It owes strong position with its immediacy to leading companies like the OIL, ONGC, Coal India, and the tea gardens. It possesses an ideal runway length of 7,500 ft, which is the required length for an Airbus to land. Moreover, the night landing facilities, including runway lighting, make it operate 24 hours a day.

Operating Flights

The airport is served by five major airlines, including Indian Airlines, Air India (Regional), Deccan, Air Sahara, and Kingfisher Airlines. These airlines operate the regular flights from almost all the important cities of India. Deccan and air Sahara fly daily. The Indian airline has a five-day service, whereas Kingfisher operates thrice a week. Sahara, now called Jet Lite, flies from the Indira Gandhi Airport in Delhi to Dibrugarh. It is a direct flight of about 3.5 hours. The authorities are also planning to allow many international and regional airlines for international flights to South-East Asian destinations.

Facilities

The airport has a helipad and offers helicopter and chopper hiring facilities as well. This service has been launched to provide an access to some of the inaccessible regions of Arunachal Pradesh like Pasighat, Namsai, Tezu, and Itanagar. Thus, the airport attracts more and more passengers and tourists due to its wide range of operations.

The modernisation plan has brought the airport up to a distinguished status. It has a spacious lounge to accommodate up to 500 passengers at a time. It confers comfort through centrally air-conditioned departures, and arrival terminals. It has closed circuit cameras and fire alarm systems.
