Amritsar International Airport ATQ

The international code of Amritsar international airport is ATQ. The airport is in the city of Amritsar. Amritsar international airport is also known Raja Sansi International airport, and it was named in the honour of Raja’s family name i.e. Sansi. The airport was officially inaugurated in 2009.

Location

The airport is 11km from the city of Amritsar, and it serves the other major cities of Punjab. The airport has the ability to serve about 90 flights a week. The airport is currently serving 47 destinations in 24 countries.

The airport has two terminals, international, and domestic. The airport can serve about 600 passengers each at arrival and departure. Flights coming from Pakistan usually land in Amritsar, but not many flights operate from there.

The airlines currently operating from the Amritsar international airport are Air India, Air India express, Indian airlines, jet airways, kingfisher airlines, Mahan airlines, Qatar airways, Armavia, Singapore airlines, Turkmenistan airlines, and Uzbekistan airways. Transport

The passengers can take the free coach service to and from the golden temple. Car rental and taxi, and bus services are available, but the bus stand is about 13kms away from the airport. The metro railroad system is not available in the area. There is a wide car parking space at the airport.

Medical facilities are available 24/7 for all the passengers. The hotels are available about 10kms to 13kms away from the airport. Childcare facility for passengers is available at the terminal with nominal fee charges. STD/ISD/PCO facility is available outside the terminal building. The Amritsar international airport also has a bookstall, and the money exchange is done through the State Bank of India.

There is an information and help desk at the domestic as well as international counter. It is recommended to be at the airport at least 90 minutes before the departure time for domestic flights, and 180 minutes for an international flight. This airport is considered one of the strategic airports of India.
