SpiceJet To Fly To Bangkok From Bangalore

SpiceJet, India's second largest low-cost airline in terms of market share is preparing to launch its direct service to Bangkok, Thailand from India's southern city of Bangalore.

Bangkok is the capital of the Kingdom of Thailand and the airline's 10th international destination and its 56th overall. Known by a number of monickers, among them, Great City of Immortals and City of Angels, the Thai capital is a popular holiday destination in Asia and a growing destination among Indian holidaymakers.

Starting October 27, 2013 Spicejet will commence its regular service to Bangkok initially with 4 weekly flights, departing every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The Bangalore-Bangkok flight, SG91, will depart at 03:35 hrs and the Bangkok-Bangalore return flight arrives at 22:35 hrs.

The Chennai-based low-cost airline will deploy its new-generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft on this new route. The aircraft seats 189 passengers in an all-economy class configuration.

The budget carrier said that the new route will offer Indian travelers cost-effective and convenient way to connect to Bangkok via Bangalore. Though only a minor hub for SpiceJet, Bangalore is connected to most major and key destinations in India, among them Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Kochi, Chennai and Hyderabad.

The low-cost carrier is offering a promo one-way ticket for its inaugural Bangalore-Bangkok service at Rs7,999.

SpiceJet is a fast-growing airline which is expanding its international network in recent years. It recently commenced a direct service out of Pune to Sharjah, United Arab Emirates in September 21.

The airline has a fleet of 56 aircraft, 35 of which are Boeing B737-800s and 6 Boeing B737-900ERs. It has also a fleet of 15 78-seat Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 for short-haul domestic routes.

To date, its global network consists of 47 domestic and 10 international destinations.
