SpiceJet Adds to Ahmedabad-Muscat Route

Indian air travel company SpiceJet revealed on Thursday that it has added two new weekly flights for its Ahmedabad-Muscat route.

The new flights will start taking off on 13th May this year. Bookings for them are already available and the carrier is offering the tickets at a promotional price of Rs 5,499. The flights will be all-inclusive, the airliner said.

The flights will depart Ahmedabad airport on Wednesdays and Sundays at 11 P.M and will take off from the airport in Muscat, Oman on Thursdays and Mondays at 1:10 A.M.

Chief operating officer of SpiceJet Sanjiv Kapoor said the following regarding the new flights:

"India and Oman have an excellent partnership and the passenger demand has been growing strongly."

The COO of SpiceJet further added:

"These additional frequencies are a part of our plans to increase our international services, and we expect to add more flights and frequencies to current and potential new international destinations in the coming months as we add more aircrafts."

With these two new flights, SpiceJet will now operate a total of five flights between Ahmedabad and Muscat each week.

The Indian airliner has started operating on the Ahmedabad-Muscat route in July 2013 by introducing all-inclusive fares for the economy class, while the commercial flights for the same destination are available since late August same year.

Currently, SpiceJet operates in seven international destinations altogether, including Muscat the capital city of the Sultanate of Oman. The rest of the destinations where this airliner operates are Bangkok, Dubai, Kabul, Colombo and Male in Maldives.

The company also moved its Pune-Sharjah flight and switched in on the Pune-Dubai route.

Last year, the carrier was forced to cancel over 2,000 flights due to various problems. By introducing two new flights between Ahmedabad and Muscat, SpiceJet is showing clear signs of improvement.
