Jet to Introduce Online Missing Baggage System
Jet Airways will become the first Indian airline to offer the facility for passengers to go online to trace missing baggage. By using this facility passengers can check the status of their missing or delayed baggage by accessing the system on the website jetairways.com under the 'Product & Services' menu.
Passengers first need to report their missing or delayed at a Jet Airways' airport offices. They will then be provided with a 10-character file reference code. Passengers must use this code, along with their last name on the website to get information about their baggage status.
Passengers must also keep a hard copy of the mishandled baggage report that is given to them at the office, the receipts for any emergency or replacement items in order to claim insurance and their original flight ticket or e-ticket reference.
In cases where baggage remains untraceable after 7 working days, a questionnaire would be sent out to the passenger. The detailed inventory on this form will allow the airline to widen its search. In the unlikely event of baggage not being located within 15 days, the airline will begin to process any claims while the search still continues.
