Jet Airways Kicks Off Monsoon Months With Cheap Fare Offers

Friday, 10th July 2015 at 06:05am

Recently, Jet Airways announced availability of cheap airfares starting July 8 up to July 13, 2015 for domestic flights scheduled on July 20, 2015 up until mid-October 2015.

According to Jet Airways, price range of airfares for flights from Delhi to various local destinations like Lucknow, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata are pegged from Rs 1,499 to Rs 2,999.

Apart from Jet Airways, other low-cost carriers have also offered airfares at very competitive rates. SpiceJet for instance has offered all-inclusive tickets for a cheap price of Rs 1,899. AirAsia also launched a promo where it slashed ticket prices, selling these for as low as Rs 999.

In the coming days, SpiceJet might also announce airfare price cuts.

Prices of Brent crude oil in the market have dipped to lower than US$60 a barrel. This decline is very much favourable to air carriers whose fuel expenses eat up almost half of total operating expenses.

Given this scenario, air carriers can afford to slash prices and still make reasonable margins.

According to SpiceJet's COO Sanjiv Kapoor, it is more likely that every time fuel prices drop to very low levels, airline companies tend to share dollar savings on fuel costs to passengers by way of airfare discounts.

Airlines engage in price wars, luring customers through various promos and price cuts.

Consequently, passenger traffic for the first five months of 2015 grew to 322 lakh, up by 20 per cent from 267 lakh for the same period last year.
