Jet Airways, currently India's second largest airline, will launch the daily service to Kuwait and Abu Dhabi destinations on May 16, 2013.
The airline currently flies to Kuwait from its hub in Mumbai on a twice-daily frequency.
The carrier will use the medium-range narrow-body Boeing 737-800 Next Generation (NG) aircraft for both destinations. The aircraft type competes primarily with Airbus A320, in terms of capacity and range, as it is also capable of carrying up to189 passengers in a single class configuration.
Jet Airways, however, will configure the aircraft into two-class layout, offering its passengers options to fly either on premiere or economy class. The passengers will get to enjoy the same brand of service from the airline with top-of-the-line inflight products and services such as its award-winning in-flight entertainment as well as its sumptuous meals on board.
The twin services will further solidify the airline's presence in the Gulf region, home to millions of Indians who are either residents or contract workers. It has been serving the region for years from its various hubs in India. The airline presently flies to most major cities in the region including Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Muscat, Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam from various points in India.
The 9W 576 daily flight will leave Kochi at 1775 hrs, local time, and will touch down at 2030 hrs in Abu Dhabi. The plane will take off at 2130 hrs, local time, in Abu Dhabi and fly onwards to Kuwait, touching down at 2205 hrs, local time. On its return flight, it will leave Kuwait at 2305 hrs, local time, heading back to Abu Dhabi, touching down at 0150 hrs, the next day. It will complete its journey back to India, leaving Abu Dhabi at 0240 hrs and will arrive at 0810 hrs in Kochi.
The airline's Chief Commercial Officer, Sudheer Raghavan, said that Jet Airways is glad to serve these two destinations which they consider as among the busiest in the Gulf region. Jet Airways has provided travelers in the region alternative but better options with its own brand of in-flight products and services.
