In a bid to expand its market share, India's largest carrier has increased its flight frequencies to three domestic routes namely, Delhi-Coimbatore, Chennai-Coimbatore, and Kolkata-Chennai.

Starting last week, IndiGo has added a second daily direct flight between Delhi and Coimbatore; a third daily non-stop service between Chennai and Coimbatore; and a fifth daily direct service between Kolkata and Chennai.

IndiGo's Aditya Ghosh admitted that the expanded service to the three routes is a testament to the airline's commitment to promote local destinations and offer customers more reasons to fly with IndiGo and a better connectivity and an enhanced travel experience with them.

The airline executive added that the addition of more frequencies on the aforementioned routes was the result of the customers' support of their operations through patronage of their service between these cities.

IndiGo currently operates a fleet of 84 aircraft, all of which are the narrow-body A320s.

By 2017, it will start taking delivery of the 160 A320neos that it has ordered with Airbus in 2011, said to be one of the largest order in commercial aviation history.

In October this year, it made headlines in the aviation world when it signed an MoU with Airbus Industrie a whopping $25.7 billion for 250 A320neos, topping its 2011 order and has become the largest of its kind in aviation history for the aircraft manufacturing company.

IndiGo currently flies to 31 destinations across India and 5 international destinations operating more than 530 flights daily.
