Barely four months into its operations, AirAsia India has quickly and successfully gained a foothold in the local aviation industry with its strategic business model patterned after its mother unit.
Recently, the low-cost affiliate has struck a partnership with the IT firm Amadeus, which would further extend its reach to markets outside Asia.
The agreement will enable AirAsia India available for bookings through a global network of travel agencies in the Amadeus extensive database. Thus, the airline is the latest airline of the AirAsia group to tap the Amadeus technology.
The Amadeus system will enable an airline's fares to be compared against other airlines operating in the same routes, allowing the customers to make sound choices in booking their tickets. This facility would make the airline available to a global audience who plan their travel in advance to the region.
According to its CEO, Mittu Chandilya, the facility will certainly provide them advantage over their rivals citing India's very competitive travel market. He is confident that their partnership with Amadeus will bring in tangible benefits to the company as they aim to achieve its growth targets year after year.
Hazem Hussein, the executive vice president for Airline Commercial-Asia Pacific, is optimistic that their partnership with AirAsia India will affirm their commitment to help the entire AirAsia group to achieve its long-term goal.
Amadeus system has been the platform for more than 70 different carriers worldwide through which over 85% of bookings made through its system were from airlines with which they have content agreement.
