Air India Offers New Sydney to Delhi Route

Indian flag carrier Air India is set to provide non-stop flight services between Sydney and Delhi. The service which starts 17 May 2015 will be made available four times a week.

Kerrie Mather, CEO of Sydney Airport considers India as one of the airport's growth markets thus, the recent offering is welcome news considering that a great number of travelers will benefit from it.

He explained that Sydney is home to a huge number of locals who are of Indian descent. This justifies the huge demand for flight services between the two regions.

This new service will provide travelers with access to every key destination in India and Air India's networks scattered across Europe.

Air India will be using its new fleet of Boeing 787s for the Sydney-India service so travelers get to fly to their destination while enjoying the benefits modern aircraft technology can offer.

For New South Wales (NSW), Air India's new offer is foreseen to boost air travel between the two regions.

NSW Trade Minister Stuart Ayres said that there is a growing number of Indian tourists flying to NSW. He said that Air India's new service will facilitate travel for all these visitors.

He also mentioned that last year alone, the number of Indian tourists traveling to NSW went up to about 67,000. This influx of visitors brought in more than $190 million in revenues for the state.

With the new service, he expects more travelers pouring in from India this year.

Meanwhile, Air India is offering free stay in Delhi Airport hotels for those availing of connecting flights from Australia to Frankfurt, Italy, Paris, and UK with 8 to 24-hour layovers in Delhi.

The airline is also offering onward travel with zero to minimal cost for passengers traveling from Delhi to other selected cities in India.
