Air India Express to Provide More Seats

An Air India senior official has announced two weeks ago that its subsidiary Air India Express will soon increase its seat capacity between Oman and India as it opens up more direct flights between the two countries.

Amresh Choudhary, the country manager for Oman, disclosed the news to Times of Oman that Air India Express will add more seats and direct flights from Muscat to Kozhidoke in India's Kerala state on the Malabar coast starting on October 28.

Airline officials said that from 28 October, they are adding 27 more flights from Mangalore and Kerala to various points in the Gulf region.

During its winter schedule, the airline is increasing its frequency from airports in Kerala and Mangalore to the Middle East to 119 flights per week from the current 92 times a week.

As a result, there will be a once-daily service from its Kochi hub to Bahrain, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah and a three-times-a-week service to Muscat, Oman.

From its Kozhikode hub, AIE will now operate a once-daily service to Abu Dhabi, Dammam, Dubai, Doha, Bahrain and Sharjah, thrice weekly to Kuwait, two times a week to Salalah as well as a once weekly service to Al Ain in UAE.

Air India Express will also have a thrice-weekly service to Muscat and two-times weekly to Salalah, both in Oman; daily service to Abu Dhabi and Dubai as well as four times per week to Sharjah, all in UAE, from its hub in Thiruvananthapuram.

The budget carrier is also increasing its flights from its Mangalore to Abu Dhabi and Muscat to three times per week; two times a week to Bahrain and Doha; and twice-daily service to Dubai.

The airline said that the fares would be stabilized immensely due to the increased capacity, thereby benefiting the air travelers in the region.
