These days, flying has gotten more expensive as some airlines have adjusted flight rates and related flight services. However, a passenger's flying preference definitely sets the price.

Pre-booking for seats located in aisles or beside windows will certainly cost more. Front seats and those with immediate access to emergency exit doors will also cost higher than typical seats.

For instance, a passenger who books for seats near emergency exits will have to pay around Rs 600 while those who book for aisle and window seats will have to cough out up to Rs 300.

Indigo, one of India's premier airlines charges RS 200 for window seats. The same fee applies to aisle seats provided they are in rows 14 down to 29.

Said airline also came out with price adjustments on cancelled tickets. It used to charge a fixed rate of Rs 1,500 to those who apply for cancellation two hours before their scheduled departure. Now it is charging variable rates from Rs 2,250 to Rs 1,250, depending on how early the cancellations were requested.

Passengers requesting to cancel flights between 2 hours to 2 days prior to departure will be charged Rs 2,250. Cancellations made much earlier, that is 7 to 30 days before departure will be charged a rate of Rs 1,500.

Those who request for cancellation more than 30 days before departure will be charged a lower fee of Rs 1,250.

The above rates apply to domestic flights only.

Cancellation fees for international flights will cost around Rs 2,500 if cancellation is done within 4 hours to 7 days. Cancellations made earlier or more than 7 days before scheduled departure will cost Rs 2,000.

On the other hand, SpiceJet recently offered new check-in related services. These include providing extra assistance at the point of check-in, down to boarding and arrival. Another service involves provision of special counters for check-in and claiming of checked-in luggages.

In case of loss of luggage or flight delays, insurance services covering these unforeseen events are also provided at the option of passengers.

To avail of these services, passengers will just have to pay extra cash within the range of Rs 35 to Rs 500.
