Jet Airways Gets One Million Facebook Fans

Jet Airways, the country's premier international airline is the first Indian carrier to get this distinction to join the ranks of the top airline brands of the world with the most likes on Facebook. The airline joined the social networking community on January 2010.

This reputation shows the airline's unique approach to reach out to its clients and fans who must have a wonderful experience flying with the airline. It is its way to get more intimate with as many fans as possible in just one site. Its Up, Close and Social campaign has given its fans an opportunity to take a look on how the airline keeps its fleet in top shape. The campaign has, so far, garnered a total of 9 lakh Facebook users, increasing its chances to draw more awareness of the brand.

Other tools that Jet Airways uses, from time to time, are travel polls,aviation anagrams and useful facts on the aviation industry. The behind-the-scenes videos that the airline has created for its branding campaigns on the fuselage of its aircraft with equally popular campaigns from leading the names in various industries, also create a buzz on its Facebook page. These initiatives, no doubt, have created awareness about the brand among the users while, at the same time, help its effort to engage with its fans. Moreover, its social media team introduced language-specific posts to get a more personalized connection to its global audience. Additionally, aviation images and videos are uploaded on its official FB page.

Jet Airways also has other accounts in most other social media networks including YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, Foursquare, Flickr and Pinterest.

The airline is a pioneer among Indian airlines to take advantage of the benefits the social media networks provide to business entities. According to its Chief Commercial Officer, Sudheer Raghavan, Jet Airways has long considered its fans an integral part of their business. He further said that their fans are the very reason why they tap the various social networking sites. They want to reach out to as many fans as possible through the use of social media. He said that getting these many fans on Facebook is an important milestone in the company's history since it launched its own pages in various social media communities less than three years ago. Reaching this far is a testament to the airline's mantra, 'Listen, Engage and Respond,' putting them in a very competitive advantage in social networking sites

Jet has a current fleet of 99 aircraft 70 of which are Boeing planes - 60 are Boeing 737-700/800/900 and 10 are Boeing 777-300ER. Also in its fleet are 11 Airbus A330-200 and 18 ATR 72-500 turboprops.
